offline rpg? well, if you don't want to play online, I would definitely recommend Morrowind. Yes, its not free. However, its gotta be pretty cheap now (when I bought it a couple years ago I think it was $10 at Walmart) and the graphics aren't bad at all (maybe not as good as games that are coming out right now, but still pretty good, and not $50). It will be far better than any free rpg. Granted, I'm not exactly sure why you're talking about Runescape when you ask for offline games, so I might have misunderstood the question, but I would definitely recommend Morrowind.
