I am a mommy, thats my job. The hours suck and the pay is low, so I am looking for a job "out in the world". :)

My question is, what can I do and how can I convince an employer to hire me? I worked customer service for AT&T 13 years ago and have worked as a cashier and fast food crew member (6 monthe at each job) since then. I am 31 years old, so not a young kid who would be expected to have a crappy job history and no real skills.

How do i go about making up a decent sounding resume for the jobs that require one? Whats the cover page etiquette and is it faxed before or after the resume is fed into the machine?

I am in Michigan, the economy here isn't that great, so I really need the help figuring out what to do to make myself appeal to employers.

I welcome any suggestions and/or informational web sites.

There are lots of ways to write a resume, ones that don't focus on the years you worked but the duties you had, such as customer service at all three jobs you had. There are great books out there you can get ideas from, I used Barnes and Noble's Resume writing book which covers emailing resume formats also. Buy a couple, they're worth the investment.
