I think it could go either way, some of their items are very preppy, some are very skater-like and some are just casual dress for anyone who can wear their clothes. It just depends on what you buy/like and what your definition of preppy/skater is.

most preps shop at Hollister Surf Co, American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch.
and most skaters shop at 180, No Fear, Pac Sun, Tilly's.

for my area, i like Skater. Their Laid lower back and fashionable. i stumble on Gangster slightly intimidating. risky. Preppy would properly be sturdy too purely no longer over the coolest, a guy in talk,skinny denims and a blouse would properly be warm too (Indie)

anyone ... most people would consider me to be preppy and i shop there , but i also have a lot of friends who arent who shop there. and just because there skate and surf brands doesnt mean you cant wear them if you dont do those thigns ... as long as you think they are cute
