Hello, I'm 12 and have just found out how much I like butterfly. I LOVE IT!!!!!! (seriously)and can beat 14 year olds who go to my swimming club woo! Anyone else who likes it? I also LOVE backstroke. Anyone else? And any tips?

Hey Una Bonita Chica! I don't actually know my times but I'll time myself tomorrow and post the times. It won't be too exact 'cos I don't have a stopwatch lol. yay for butterfly and backstroke!!!!!!!

I've never gotten the technique down for butterfly so by an obvious bias I'm not that big of a fan of it but I have great respect for those who can swim it well.
But I really like the backstroke as a backstroker myself. I have some promising times in my 100 and almost all of the time I lead off one of the medley relays doing back. Plus when I shave down my time goes way down in the back for some reason.

Same here, I'm 12 and my 2 best strokes are butterfly and backstroke! I got a 1:10.86 in my 100 fly and a 1:12.09 in my 100 backstroke! I love both of those events! I'd like it if you'd post your times as additional details to the questions so I could compare!

hmmm i love backstroke because it's my relaxation stroke after sprinting 100 freestyle. i can do butterfly but i can't race with it to save my life.
if you want tips all i can say is that when doing backstroke the pinkey fingers go in first followed by the rest of the hands and cup your hands while they are underwater

Fly is one of those strokes you either love it or you hate it. Sorry to ruin the fun but I hate it. I'm okay at it but I just can't stand it. Im breaststroker. But hey good for you it doesn't matter as long as were swimming right?

yea i like butterfly, its so fun, but its really tiring. i like beackstroke even more, but thats only cuz its not as tiring. at the beginning of a fly race, i have like a perfect fly for the first 25 yards, then it gets a little bit crappier.
