Well, arguing brings up good points, but I've wondered if a home plate umpire has ever taken back a strike call after arguing with a player?

I can guarantee you it has never happened.

As for claims by some here that they have seen it, no you haven't. What you saw was the plate umpire call a pitch a ball and the defense ask the plate umpire to get help on whether the batter swung. ONLY THE DEFENSE CAN ASK THE PLATE UMPIRE TO GET HELP, AND ONLY FOR WHETHER THE BATTER SWUNG. The offense cannot ask the plate umpire to get help when he rules the batter swung.

I do not know, but in 1999, I saw a picture of an umpire looking at television camera asking for a replay. The game was played in Miami.

ive seen them call a strike on a check swing and the player argued and then the ump pointed to the third base ump and made the safe sign saying it wasnt a full swing turning over the call. but ive never seen someone argue on the placement of the ball and gotten it turned over.

Rarely, but usually they stick to the call, knowing they were wrong, and make it up on the following close pitch, calling THAT pitch a ball when it was a strike evens it out!

No,a called pitch would never be reversed and called a ball,at least not by me.but there may be a so-called make -up call, that happens all the time.
