Be calm at first.
Think.
Thank them for a lovely complement.
You are loved.

It's quite an amazing feeling when your not expecting it! I has someone tell me just before Xmas but text me saying there are 3 words I want to say to you I replied not having a clue what he meant it took me about 5 hrs to realise what he was trying to say felt abit embarrassed it had taken so long for me to get it but never thought he would feel that way.

I guess it depends on the context. If it was a first date, I'd be a bit worried and thank them nervously.

If it was somebody I really knew and felt feelings of affection for, then I might say something like "what took you so long?".

If it was a long-term partner who I felt the same about, I'd say something like "I know, and I am very lucky because I love you too".

Last time, I would keep quiet and be uncomfortable if the feeling wasn't mutual. Nowadays I say "thank you, I appreciate that. I like you a lot, you are a nice person."

Say thankyou, but NEVER say it back until you really mean it, just because they have said it, doesnt mean that you have to.

If I love them back, I usually smile and reply, "I love you, too."
