Let me tell you how it will be.
There's one for you, nineteen for me.
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Should five percent appear too small.
Be thankful I don't take it all.
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.

If you drive a car
I'll tax the street.
If you try to sit
I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold
I'll tax the heat.
If you take a walk
I'll tax your feet.
Taxman!

Don't ask me wat I want it for,
If you don't want to pay some more
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Now my advice for those who die:
Beware the pennies on your eye.
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.
And you're working for no one but me.

Does this still ring as true to you as it does to me?

Kwilfort, I copied and pasted from a lyric website. You really think I typed all that?

It rings greatly true to me - although, me being British and having to put up with Gordon Brown taxing me, it could do with about 30 lines added to it, and that still wouldn't be enough to list 1/10th of his taxes.

Tax on earnings, tax on interest on earnings, tax when you spend your earnings, tax when you die and leave your earnings to your kids, who pay tax on what they buy with your earnings...

As much as I like Britain, we need to get rid of Labour and get a nice Conservative government back...

Yes there are too many taxes. btw its "declare the pennies on your eyes".

Btw as a warning, should the democrats win in 2008. This song was written while Britain was under a socialist government and the tax levels were at a record high.

Sad but true.

That's what you get with a country that tries to spend roughly $10,000 per person per year, which is roughly half of the total average annual income per person. That's based on a 3 trillion dollar budget and 300 million people in the US.

No. Taxes pay for things you probably don't even think about. It's a small price to pay for a functioning society.
