Americans are generally really nice people who don't hate much of anyone, BUT they often like to pass judgment on the governments of other countries without knowing all the facts. For example, while ALL Iranians know about what happened to Mossadeq because of Kermit Roosevelt; the history of the Shah of Iran, and the full story behind the Iranian revolution, very few Americans know any details of these events, especially those facts related to American involvement. This is never mentioned at the lower end of education (ie. high school) and even only a few universities include these subjects on their syllabi, as far as I know. All they are told is that the current government is 'crazy', and 'Anti-American' without any explanation about WHY. The media in the USA is almost as closed a the media in Iran in this sense. If more Americans want to learn about their country's involvement in Iranian politics, they can check out many websites, like the ones below. Then maybe they can make clearer judgements about Iran's government and people.

No, I can't speak for others but I understand that there is a huge movement in Iran opposed to the Clerics and the President. Iran is a great country and the youth want exposure to the west as does the middle class. Iran has a vast amout of wealth but the Economy is in the toilet with a high unemployment rate. This should not be happening and it is not the fault of the international community. Iranian domestic policy is responsible for this problem. There is unrest in the Universities and the police are busting heads because the clerics are afraid of open dialogue. The opposition in Iran needs to get more organized and more vocal and to make demands known to the world community.
The Students did come out and show solidarity after 9/11 much to my surprise and is a tribute to their bravery against the government.

I never have heard anyone say they hate Iranian people, nor do I. Unfortunately, when there is a language barrier, it is difficult for people to get at the truth. For instance, we are told that Ahmedinijad said he would "wipe Israel off the map". That turned Americans totally against your government. Some sources say that this was a mistranslation and that he really didn't say that at all.
Many in the U.S. are not too proud of our government's actions in the last few years either. Maybe, with new leadership, our governments will reach some kind of dialog that is beneficial to us all at some point in the future.

I am an American citizen from my beginning to present.
You are the first person that I know of that says that he is from Iran.
I don't know anything about you except this question and what is in your Yahoo Profile and all that tells me is that your name is Abraham, the name of one of my younger brother's as well; your user i.d. and that you will accept IMs.
Using those as criteria, I find no fault in you and have no reason to hate you.
As far as the Iranian government; I don't know any of the Iranian leaders personally nor their motivation for doing the things they do with running the Iranian government.
I have no reason to hate the Iranian leaders; it's government nor Iranian people.
I am NOT PROGRAMMED to like or dislike anyone or anything without DIRECT EFFECT to me.
And because of my belief in God, I don't think I would be able to hate the leaders of the government or the government ideals.
Those of you that use the word 'WE' in your response to this question; please know that I am NOT we.
I am I.
You are you.
Human being that believes in God first; nationality, second; Politics?
I am a indegreenconlibocratican.
I have no ranking for that.

It's like this. The people of America have nothing agains Irani's. Most of us don't know any Iranians. The same in Iran. the people don't have anything against Americans. They don't know any of us. It is our governments that don't get along. I live in a city with many Muslims, some of whom are from Iran. Everyone respects and gets along with one another.

I am an American, and one of my best friends (Pirooz) is from Iran and I love him dearly! I'm not so fond of the Iranian government. I was young during the hostage situation in the late seventies.
I have a question for you, do Iranians feel persecuted in Iran?

As an American, I can quite strongly say that I do not hate any large group of people. I cannot morally justify doing so, when every individual has something unique and special to offer to our world.
It stands to reason that you, as a person who, as evidenced by your previous question, would like to visit the US for an extended period, certainly do not harbor any sense of distaste for Americans in general. Likewise, I cannot harbor a hate towards a people who, to my knowledge, live in a society where they cannot truly be themselves.
Common sense dictates that people enjoy emulating those of whom they are jealous. In some people, I feel that this takes the form of threats of war, violent actions, and other negative reactions. Conversely, in what I believe to be the majority, other people strive to join those that they emulate. They try to improve themselves without hurting any others.
It is the later group that demands my respect. Anyone who tries to improve themselves in any way that they may wish demands my respect.
The Iranian government is ruled by the former group of people I described. They are evil, despotic men who attempt to warp and promote a bastardized version of their faith to meet their own ends. This is something that no one can respect, and I can only hope and pray that these oppressive leaders are removed, and one of the oldest, most historically significant nations in the world can become open, both to its people and to the people of the world.

I don't hate Iranians, I'm just not a big fan of your government, especially when your president, Ahmadinejad, says he wants to wipe a neighboring country of the face of the earth. (Israel) He seems to be spending more time bashing the United States and less time trying to improve Iran's stagnant economy.

A good "Majority of the American people" probably do, but I dont, because, year's before all of this conflict began my sister dated an "exchange student" from Iran, and had two girls from him, and then he went back to his country!! I have two beautiful neices who are smart as all get out!! One own's her own business and the other will soon be a school teacher, and their both just "Gorgeous" but their "American's!!" And they know nothing about the Iranian tradition's or about their father, either!! So, I dont hate the Iranian's!! No..
