I really know nothing about the spawning of a fish.I have her in a seperate tank and I am concerned with how long she will be pregnant,and how many eggs to expect,and when I can return her and the babys to the larger tank with the larger fish .Please help.

Only live bearers like mollies, guppies, swordtails and platys have live young, all others lay eggs. For an egg laying species to be successful requires the female to lay the eggs and the male to fertilize them almost immediately there after. Tiger barbs are egg layers and require both the male and female to be actively involved during the spawning process, so a female will not lay eggs on her own (usually) and even if she were to they would not be fertilized. it's ok, nothing to worry about. just wait until her babies hatch. you may want to search the web for how long it takes for a tiger fish egg to hatch. we have a pond in the backyard and had tons of eggs. now we have a swarm of baby fish - they hatched healthily. except now our pond is covered with algae. need to clean the pond...
