Are you talking about shaving the hair in your arm pits? To me, I think it just looks cleaner, especially in the summer time when females in particular will be wearing bathing suits or tops that have no sleeves.
I was 11 years old when a kid at school made a joke about the hair on my legs. That's when I started shaving my legs and under arms.
Some people like hair and some would prefer to shave, so I think it is a matter of personal preference.

I don't know ... I personally wouldn't want the hairs on my arm to grow back black and prickly like leg hairs do ...
I think when girls are young and in their awkward phases a lot of them are unhappy with having hair on their arms and so they shave them off. Then to keep them smooth and not stubbly and gross they have to continue to shave.

Depending on a person's ethnic background, medications they might be on, stress levels, etc there are many, many, reasons some people have an abundance of hair on their body.
Some sports people, like bikers and swimmers will remove all hair from their body for a more aerodynamic resistance.
If someone removes arm hair by shaving, waxing, electrolysis, etc it is because of 1 of 2 reasons:
1. It makes them feel better about themselves, either aesthetically or cleanliness (or both).
or
2. They may be an athlete where it is at their advantage to remove the unwanted hair.
Many Mediteranean women (for example) will remove all sorts of body hair because their genes are programmed to produce lots of it.
It all boils down to how it makes you feel. If you feel better removing the hair, do it. IF you don't care one way or the other, don't.

some peoples hair is really thick and noticeable. sometimes its embarrassing to show all that hair.
its a preference, like with shaving your legs.
for me, i had to shave my arm because my physical therapist had to put tape on it to help the nerve or something weird like that. this may sound weird, but i like the smooth feeling!

my cousin has super dark thick arm hair. if she didn't shave it i think she would be a warewolf. so i think it's best for some girls to shave their arm hair. i don't, but my arms aren't very hairy.

Comfort, really. And the hair locks in sweat and makes it smell worse.
It all started when sleeveless dresses came into style for women in the early 1900s, no one wanted to look unfeminine.

Because they are self conscious of being hairy - especially women. For them, it's probably better than being Mrs. Furry Arms.
