What is the difference between heroic rebel leaders, like Che Guevara, and terrorists?

The methods they use.

Using violence against civilians to make a political point or to cause chaos and feath -- that is terrorism.

Fighting against an opposing military, or attacking in ways that do not cause any excessive civilian causality (i.e. no more than any another "legitimate" armed conflict would), is different.

The goals don't matter. It's how you pursue them that makes someone a terrorist or not. And I don't know enough about the methods Che Guevara used to know which he falls into.

Che Guerva is a bad example to us. But a terrorist targets random civilians and seek to cause as many deaths as possible, where as people with a cause will target specific targets.

Can I interest you in a t-shirt with Che wearing a tin foil fez. You'll be a real fashionista in the crowd.
