I took effexor though out my pregnancy and my last one is healthy. You might want to discuss it further with your doctor just to make sure.

There are limited studies on what the effects are on human pregnancies, but the drug is classified to only be used if it is absolutely necessary in the pregnancy and if the benefits far outweigh the risks. There ARE, however, links to effects on infants, and even withdrawal side effects when your baby is born (almost as if it were addicted to Effexor).

Talk to an obstetrician AND a psychiatrist to decide on whether you should be off medications for the pregnancy or switched to a safer drug. I would seriously avoid gambling a human life by following any other advice from anonymous online personas; it's best to ask a professional, face-to-face, who is familiar with your mental health history.

i was on effexor xr at 375mg daily, while pregnant with my daughter, they had done 2 ultrasounds 1 of which was a level 2. the Dr.s can work together to keep your medication at a safe level for you and your baby. i had no problems during my pregnancy. my daughter was born with 2 holes in her heart though, but has not been linked to effexor. she's healthy and very active, always running somewhere.

Please (on Monday) call Motherisk.org . All they do is track safety during pregnancy and lactation. They will be able to take into account your history, the dosage and inform you of the risks and any other medications that you may wish to consider. Don't forget to ask about the safety during lactation as well. Generally speaking if you are taking medication during pregnancy it is wise to continue and breastfeed as then the baby doesn't abruptly go into withdrawal. But that isn't always true.

If you dial a 10-10 long distance plan this call should cost you less than $2. Which is pretty darn cheap considering how great the information is -I guarantee they know more than your doctors.

Motherisk's Home Line - (416) 813-6780 - for information about the risk or safety of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, herbal products, chemicals, x-rays, chronic disease and infections during pregnancy. [This is a toll call to our Toronto call centre. Callers may have to wait up to 10 minutes to speak to a counsellor.]

These Helplines are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.

you're already right down to 37.5 mg of Effexor, if the Wellbutrin is keeping you wakeful, i think of you will possibly desire to evaluate already tapering it as properly. in line with possibility you may take your usuall morning dose, and taper any night dose you're taking. verify including your dr./therapist. you will possibly desire to have the flexibility to take an entire morning dose of the Wellbutrin sR, take a familiar Wellbutrin interior the afternoon, (no longer as long- lasting because of fact the SR), and in line with possibility they are in a position to prescribe something wuch as trazadone to knock you out at night, in case you % the benifits from Wellbutrin. there are possibilities. good success.
