Come on. Be honest. Who would really make the effort to step out into the relatively cold air compared to the warm water just to relieve themselves

I am a qualified swimming instructor, and a ex-life guard, chlorine does not kill all germs.

What germs chlorine does kill takes a bit of time to work. Chlorine does not kill cryptosporidium, giardia, shigella, novovirus and e.coli all these germs can cause vomiting & diarrhoea, skin, eye & ear infections.

As a teacher I would always get out of the pool, to go to the loo, I would also actively encourage children to do so too. If someone had pooped in the pool, we would close it down, clean out what we could and do a super dose the pool, retest the pool, and if the chlorine levels are still to high we'd keep the pool closed until the chlorine levels dropped back to normal.

I don't teach swimming any more due to on going health problems, and being a enviroment that would often increase my chance of picking up a nasty bug, certainly added to my looking for work out side the pool.

Oh I don't pee in the pool how gross!

Everyone does that at some point, especially when young. It's to be expected when swimming that you'll swim through to odd warm patch now and again. It's not pleasant, but it's no harm. I'd rather have that than swim along and get a stray elastoplast in the mouth! That's just nasty!

A boy was once expelled from a swimming class for urinating in the swimming pool. His father objected saying "Lots of boys urinate in the pool"

The instructor replied, "Not from the top diving board, they don't!"

that change the colour of the water thing is a myth, nothing happens when you wee in the water, thats why it has chlorine in it to keep it clean and all the vent things around the pool to pump it in and out, i have peed in a pool many times, whats the point in getting out to do it? i have even seen poo float around, not mine though.....
