My friend is engaged to an older woman who has a child. He is still in college, but he never gets to go out with us anymore. It's like she controls his every move; and the times when he actually does get to hang out with us, she calls him at least 10-15 x's min. to see what he is doing and when he will see her. She even does this when he hangs out with his family and he said she told him "you're a dad now, you can't be acting immature anymore". I understand that, but all of us (his friends) and his fam. are young we are all in college or just getting out of college and we like to party but he is not allowed. He used to hang with us all the time, now nothing. He is pretty smart, about to grad. as a Mechanical Engineer and I think it stinks that he is not going to be able to experience any fun in his 20's because his fiancee wont let him. Oh yeah on more thing - Him=21, Her=31, kid=13 yr.old girl. Help we never see him!! How can we get him to not make a stupid decision like marrying her?

From another guys perspective he needs to get the hell out and run. Because thats not his kid to be told your the dad now. Plus he needs to get out and have some fun or he'll probably use that as a reason to divorce her later. Plus i think she needs to get told off because she can't keep him from his own family.

Try throwing his cell phone away you guys are out. Make him understand he's in college that to his last year he should each and every moment. Teach him that she should treat him with the same respect as he treats her. Persuade him give him an intervention. He's engaged to a person who is ten years older which is a big difference. If all fails then I'm sorry I don't know what else to do. Good luck.

He is the only one that will be able to determine this for himself! When someone thinks they are in love then it is like there is nothing else in the world. All you can do is tell him how you feel. He'll some around and decide that it isn't for him. Even if it is after a divorce. But you need to make sure that you are still there for him when he needs you, because he will!!!
