I always soak my gold stuff in alcohol and dish soap,,over night in a small bowl....in the morning they are shining,,never has a problem,,my diamond earing too,,overnight

soaking them in some peroxide is better, as long as you don't have pearls or opals set in them, the peroxide will bubble and remove some of the dirt.. i like to "brush" my wedding rings with my toothbrush and toothpaste when i am brushing my teeth. then i rinse them in warm water, and do they ever sparkle afterward. good luck!

I have always used pure ammonia, that is the ingredient that is in the jewelry cleaner you buy from the store.

If they are 14k gold or sterling silver, you can. But if they are not real gold or silver, no, they would turn green and black.
