now, on to your question. common interests are valued in long term relationships, but some opposition may make for a broadening of shared values. so my opinion is a little of both.
edit: GEE! what a lot of controversy over a word i believe i probably learned by third grade. thanks for defending yourself as well, White!

Kind of a sad state of affairs that a Mexican would know more about the English language than native English speakers. You rock, White.
In my case, opposites attract. I have a very "big" personality, I am loud, laugh a lot (at really stupid things), give opinions, I'm outgoing and optimistic. My husband, on the other hand is quiet, reserved, introverted and realistic (somewhat pessimistic, but not negative) and only gives his opinion when asked. He keeps me grounded.

Cat would go for perfect match...opposites do attract, but unless there's a close match in something somewhere, the relationship will evaporate eventually. Too much difference doesn't work well.

opposites attract, but who knows? Maybe if you are paired up with your match you'd get along better. Personally, i have never found anyone to match me, and my boyfriend now is the opposite of me, and i wouldnt trade him for my "perfect" match ever. I like that we are different, it keeps things interesting, and helps me learn new things, such as snowboarding, skatboarding, cooking and eating healthier, appreciation for death metal, and i have seen alot of "classic" movies that up until recently i had never heard of. So i like the idea of opposites attracting better.
