I am in the production of Steel Magnolia's and we are stuck and having a hard time comming up with a director's gift for our directors. We are thinking about something themed to go along with the show. Cost is not a issue as of now. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much!

well my director keeps a charm bracelet for all the plays she's done and we got her a blowdryer charm. In my town we have a bakery that does cookie bouquets, which is assortment of cookies decorated as objects of a specific theme. Ummm...also, you could get her a flower bouquet of Magnolias. And you could get, if it's a her, a gift certificate to a beauty salon. Good luck. And I hope that I helped.

Go to Toys R US and find a toy hair dryer, one with a hood. Then have everyone sign it. Accompany it with a large wrapped box into which everyone has donated something pertaining to the show, like a comb, brush, scissors, hair spray, nail polish, etc... You could use ribbon and tie all the things together inside the box. Makes a fun and entertaining gift!!
If you are looking for something more serious, find a poster (try art.com or google "posters") from the movie "Steel Magnolias" and frame it nicely. Have everyone from the cast and crew sign the back. If you have more than one Director, you could do this for all of them.. Wouldn't be that expensive...

You could give him/ her a grooming kit. For a man, it could be a nice razor and some nail clippers, shaving cream, aftershave, etc. For a woman, it could be bath products (nice soaps, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. - be sure to include a comb and hairbrush).
A gift certificate to a spa or beauty salon/ barber shop in your area would be good for anyone.

Even though it's not in the stage version, I think it would be fun to have a red velvet cake in the shape of an armadillo with gray icing. I mean, I can't imagine where you would get gray icing but...
