OK, I'm a retired teacher, maybe I can offer some ideas, Try not to include anything that would make you look "lazy" or "irresponsible", like you said, you didn't want to go back to school because of the divorce. I would understand that because I got divorced, but young people of all generations are often looking for good excuses and teachers/schools have a high radar sense for lame excuses or what appear to be lame excuses. You don't need to lie. They would like to hear that you feel education is important and you want to get back to it. BE truthful and tell them why you want to get your GED, do you want to go to college, get a better job, they will want to know you honestly want to do it for a good reason. They don't need to know all the details of why you didn't do high school, many home schoolers who are smart and great take the GED. email me if needed.

You write an essay by having about 6 7 Paragraphs.

Introduction ( Thesis Statement)

Start Topic

Continue

Continue

Continue

End/Conclusion ( ( Restate your Thesis statement in a short version )

1. The Introduction (beginning: you explain what r u gonna write about)
2 The Body (middle: ALWAYS contain 3 parts)
3 The Conclusion (ending: should look like the Introduction, and have the SAME sense)

Good Luck! ;)

It's too late for me...that's what brought me HERE. You see, my life may be typical of many people but it's MY LIFE...too old, family divorce, etc. Stuff like that can make you want to quit and not go on. I did that, but I'm back and ready to try again. (You take it from here).
