It's never the song, it's marketing.. As long as you make a beat everyone enjoys. Lyrics everyone can sing along with. Make any subject sound lovable. Get that killer hook thats repetitive your set. Marketing is how you sell the song, not the song itself. All the way from the Beatles to Kelly Clarkson marketing has made these people into who they are today not songwriting.

Different people have different tastes.... Not everyone will like one song, but if you make songs in different styles then everyone can find something they like.
