macbook (yes, it can run windows)

by the way, you have very low standards. 1GB of storage? base model laptops come with at least 60GB. read and write disks? thats been standard for a long time.

also, david m is stupid. the absolute minimum RAM you can find today is 256MB, not 2MB.

If you can wait a few months you will get a far superior state of the art machine.

Intel are bringing out the hafnium chip sometime just after August and it will be twice as fast - that's right - twice as fast as current chips!

Well worth waiting for.

RAM is the important thing with Vista. They do say that to get the full benefit of it you need 2Mb although it will run with far less. That said future applications will inevitably start to require it so if you buy a computer make sure it is upgradeable to a minimum of 2Mb.

XPS. No you don't want Windows Vista Home Premium, it isn't good for anything at the moment and has tons of bugs. Just wait for it to be updated and for the peeps to repair it, then it'll be the hit.

I would recommend a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092 with 1GB of memory, and it can handle Windows Vista Ultimate.
