Artist mind's expand and is exploratory is this meaning something ?
I am also gay and a professional artist and I have always wondered about this.

many artist are gay but not are
with gay art it can sell better in some cases
as it is a gimic or something to promote the artist with
yes it is not always a good thing to have
but art has to mean something to you even if you hate it
it has effected you in some way and art is all about the feeling

I read this statistic recently in a book from 2001 that said there are more LBGT artists than non, but of course, that is only for the people who responded to the survey. Also, by no means are all gay people artists, or all artists gay. However, some scientists have hyposized that the gay mind lends itself fore to artistic persuits.

I am a sculptor/furnituremaker/art professor and I am a lesbian. I think that people involved in the arts just tend to be more open-minded and not afraid of being who they are. I work in an art department where the gay percentage is way over 10%.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I think it may be a stereotype.
Yes I admit to falling into this catagory (I'm a writer/poet who is also heavily involved on college theatre) but there are also many gays and lesbians who prefer things like sports, cars, video games and what have you. I have a gay friend whose idea of Heaven is a good solid game of Dungeons and Dragons for crying out loud! = ) How often do you associate that game with homosexual men?
Gay people have all sorts of different interests my friend, you just have to keep your eye out. = )

Just because someone has a creative mind dosen't mean their gay. Don't apply yourself being gay with other artist.

My husband is an artist, and decidedly not gay, but I do see what you're saying, creative pursuits do seem to attract high percentages...=0)

No, I don't think so. I think that's a blanket statement that's just not true.
And I'm an artist as well, but I don't think we're all or even mostly gay.

No, I am also an artist and definitely NOT homosexual(gay doesn't mean homosexual, [deleted]). So you are wrong to think they are. Many great artists were/are not homosexuals. Straighten your life up. Homosexuals are sinning before God.
