You are at a point in life where you have to make adult decisions. Why spend your mental effort looking for loopholes around a simple requirement which in the long run may be a better situation for your puppy. Look into making sure the puppy can be cared for until you can do it again. Going to college is the most important thing to be looking at. Having a college degree will better able you to care for your puppy...as well as yourself and any future family. "I can't leave my puppy" .....can you hear yourself? Do you know what that sounds like? Hey baby...life is...you do what you have to do...and adults kick in and do it.

I am kind of going through the same thing right now and I am learning that there aren't any loop holes. You can try and see your doctor for proof that your animal is a medical dog, and if that's the case most colleges allow that. Other than that, I would recommend leaving your dog with someone you trust and love. It's important to remember too that your puppy might not enjoy being locked up in a small dorm room while you are at two or three hour classes. A year seems like such a long time but in the end, it will fly by so quickly and before you know it you can be in your own apartment with your puppy again. Good luck in school! And good luck with your hunt :]

I understand exactly where you are at, but I went to college a long time ago. I don't think there are any dorms that offer to have pets, it is even hard to rent anyplace with any pet, but there have to be options. Maybe someone on here will be kind enough to brainstorm for you. Like put an ad in the paper to see if you could rent from a local family and bring your puppy, or just have them keep your puppy and be close to where they are. I'm sure there are better ideas, so keep searching, I feel anything is possible. good luck

Find a trusted friend or family member to look after the puppy if not you have a hard choice to make because you want the puppy to be cared for so you may wind up having to give him or her away to someone who can take care of the dog if you're unable to find family member or friend to take the dog in while you're in school.

The only way you would be able to have your dog living with you would be if you were blind and needed the dog to get around, other than that there isn't another way, at least none that I can think of, good luck though.
