This quote is from 'Hamlet' by William Shakespeare.

Should we stop discussing philosophy in forums like this, and just accept that there are some things that cant be explained?

Will an endless search for the 'truth' just subvert our limited knowlege?

There are somethings that can't be explained because of our limited knowledge of how and why things work. But by searching for the truth we learn more each and everyday. If we stop searching, then we will never learn anything more and thus remain stuck in time and we will never better our self's and not grow as human beings. Evolution it's self is a search for truth in what we are and what we can accomplish and is growth. Otherwise we would remain primitive creatures.

It's a good thing that everyone didn't decide that this was a good idea a few thousand years ago, or there would essentially be no knowledge to have subverted.

Sure, some things can't be explained. But how will you know which things those are unless you TRY? I find that it is only by asking questions that new possibilities can open up. And often even answers produce a dozen new questions themselves.

But let's bottom line things, here. People try to get closer and closer to the truth for the simple reason that the truth (pretty much by definition) WORKS. Unless you're not interested in doing much of anything, it behooves you to know how to do it better, faster, easier, and with less repurcussions. That's what truth gets you.

The search for truth may seem obsessive at times, I'm sure. But that's only because it's SO completely worth it!

I have long accepted that somethings can't be explained, however it is important to discuss philosophy because of it's impact on the world.

I guess we should stop doing science as well. Because it does not seem that the theory of everything will ever be discovered.

he also wrote that "thinking makes it so" , so why not ask the unanswerable questions? I don't think that philosophy will change because of answers here, but..... who knows what germs of thought are passed on here.
