d.v.d burning?

i am new to computers,can any 1 explain to me how to burn a mpeg media file to a disc so i can watch on d.v.d player?need a lot of explaining as new to this

use a programme ( i recommend nero ) to make video dvd
and then you can play it on your dvd player
even if you made video cd you may play it on your player
