You don't. You put it back where you caught it. Turtles are hard to keep in captivity. They need special lighting heat water temperatures and a half water half land enclosure. It's very expensive. If you don't put him back where you found him he will die. In the future please don't take animals out of the wild when you don't even know the basics of their care like for instance, What to feed them.

You really should consider letting it go.

First and foremost, wild-caught animals never do as well in captivity as captive-bred animals do. It will never eat as well, grow as well, live as long, or be as active as an animal raised in captivity will do.

The stress of being captured and held will also lower its own resistance to disease and the parasites it has (all wild turtles have parasites.) This will cause it problems as well.

Next, in many places, it may have been illegal to have caught it. Many places protect turtles either as fish, or as non-game animals. Not many people get busted over a turtle, but it is still a consideration.

If you DO keep it, try feeding it a mix of good quality turtle pellets (if they are big, break them up), worms bloodworms, small 'fish food' shrimp, frozen krill, etc.

Baby pond turtles (your may be a Painted turtle or a Yellow-belly slider, or one of a dozen other possibilities) do not eat much greens or veggies in the wild, but will eat more as they get older.

How long have you had it? Why did you catch it? All turtles are wild in a sense. I have two red ear sliders, I purchased at a pet store, I more like rescued them! They were in horrible living conditions! For a two inch turtle you HAVE to have at least a 20 gallon tank (10 gallons per inch, yes, you have to get a bigger tank for every inch it grows), heaters, filter, substrate, different types of lighting (UVA &UVB, heat lamp), calcium supplements, vitamin supplements, live food, turtle pellets, dock to bask on....are you ready to invest in a turtle you should have never picked up?! Does this baby turtle have red stripes on each side of it's head?

It will probably eat little bugs and stuff. Or, you could buy turtle pellets at the pet store. My friend had a red-eared slider (type of water turtle) and she fed it special turtle pellets. If I were you, I would invest in a book about turtles.

The best thing that you can do is to take it back where you found it and return it to nature...
This being said...Go to the pet shop (PetCo., or Petsmart etc.,etc.) They sell Turtle Food for land turtles and aquatic turtles. But one thing I must say is that once you choose to take this turtle as a pet you won't be able to return it to nature and expect it to live, because it won't know how to survive.
I have a pet turtle and he can be quite interesting.
