The blower switch in my chevy malibu 1998 LS does not work at position 1 and 2. There is nothing wrong with the switch and switch board itself. I have tested it. Also, it works fine at the other positions. Its like that ever since I bought that car (2 years ago). Any sugestions will be greatly appreciated.

Also, The AC turns on, even when I set the blower at 1 a,d 2, but the blower does not blow. Thefrore, I think all the connectiosn are fine, can there be anything wrong with the blower itself? that it can not work at slow speed. If yes, then how can I check, and correct it? Any link on how to open the blower in my car will also help alot.
Thank you.

i own a repair shop, and it needs a blower motor resistor on it,this mounts on the outside of the heater box,and what it does is help control the voltage of the heater motor so it doesn't burn the motor up,that's whats causing this to happen, any advance auto parts store has these, and they only cost around 20-25 bucks to replace, and anyone can do this ,it will have a small wiring harness that connects to it,you,ll see it out there or the parts store can show you exactly which one it is,good luck with it,i hope this helps.

in case you're pertaining to the blower slowly fading out then i might replace the blower motor, I even have had some chevy trucks that did precisely what you defined, even the clicking. I continually repaired the situation via changing the motor or changing the brushes interior the motor.

most likely you need a new blower motor resistor, unhook the connector and test the wires at different settings and make sure you have power

It is probably the blower motor's resistor tht is bad, usually they are located somewhere on the heater box (under the dash or glovebox).

unhook the blower and run a wire from the battery and see if the blower works.if it does then it must be the resister,if its not the switch.
