Why are there so few strong/positive female characters in movies and TV anymore? The use of good female characters is almost completely missing, especially in animated cartoons. If female characters exist they only function as either in a misfit/comedic role or they are only backup characters for the main (male) role. Even when I was a kid, back in the late 70"s they were plenty of strong female characters including Isis, The Bionic Woman, Josie and the Pussycats, Scooby doo, Wonder Woman..etc. My husband and I are trying to have a baby, and I fear that if we have a girl there will be no heroines for her to look up to

I may be nuts but I think the owners of the entertainment industry are mostly men and they are fearful of our power so this is a backlash. Also, I have a conspiracy theory...they don't want to portray females being powerful because it "opens the minds" of the public to the possibility that a WOMAN could be a strong and capable leader. What do you think the REAL reason was for them pulling Commander-In-Chief off the air? Hmmmm?
