My girlfriend just broke up with me last week totally out of the blue citing that we live different lifestyles, don't want the same things, and the spark has worn off for her. I tried to explain that the spark always wears off and maintaining a long distance relationship (like we have been doing) is really taxing on the relationship. I was planning on moving to Chicago this Spring to be closer to her and proposing to her in the Fall. My whole world is in shambles. I love her so much and know that we are right for each other. What should I do? Should I give her space to figure things out? Part of me wants to run to her, while another part of me is so hurt and wounded I just want to run away. I love her so much and my heart is broken over this. Any advice or words of wisdom would be appreciated. If it helps, she's a recovering alchoholic and struggles with relationships. I was divorced 4 years ago and didn't think that I would ever love again until I met her.

This is very difficult for you, I'm sure. I would keep the door open at this point. You cannot force her to love you. You can only remain available - even if from afar. I wouldn't uproot your life/job right now for her though. She may be testing your resolve to stay with her or love her. On the other hand, she may be somewhat insecure or unsure of her future in life. Don't push it, and just let her know you hope she will stay in communication with you. Sometimes people meet someone and feel it's so good it can't be true, she could be at that stage and just scared now. So let it be a little while before you make a major move. Be strong.
If it ultimately goes the way you don't want it to you will have to force yourself to stay busy with many activities - don't dwell in sadness or stay in the house. It really helps to be social and optimistic no matter what. Good luck.

Wow, this really is complicated. But, if you really are soul-mates, she'll find you eventually. And yes, if I were her, I'd appreciate some space for me to figure out everything. But, you know her better, and if she's not exactly the type who's secretive and just straight-forward all the time, then there might be something wrong. And maintaining a long distance relationship is never easy, trust me. Talking from experience. Maybe if she knew you were coming for her, she'd feel better. That is, if you hadn't told her. And if you really want this woman, you won't run away.

unfortunately there are no words of wisdom. It's heartbreak and suck's big time. Try not to contact her. I know that is hard but it just drag's it on endlessly. Only time can heal no matter what you do. Eventually in time thing's will start to get better and day's will seem less painful.

you have some good advice but I think I can top it off if you just listen to me.
first off, you should try to remember what was were her favoorite color and you should send to her (at her work and at her residence) a dozen roses or flowers that she will like along with a something beauiful written by you in your own handwritting because she will realize that you are trying to win her over.
secondly, in regards to visiting her in the spring, I would recmmend to you that you cnsult with your folks and your heart as well. if you d go to visit her, please make sure that you stay in either a hotel or a motel where they do you provide you breakfast.
thirdly, if you truely do love her with all of YOUR HEART then you and only you will know what is best for you. if it was up to me, I would most like go after her and win her and if it isn¿t successful well then I would know that tried my very best.
my recommendation is: try your best to win her over provided that you still in love with her and that she makes you very happy.

I think u should give her some space thin after a while it will kick in that u really like her and she fells really bad 4 what she did.. and said maybe? but if she does not call you u should call her OK good luck u seem like a really nice guy !!and i hpoe that helped !!!!!!!!!

Keep in contact with her and keep reminding her how much u love her .... and she will soon realize that she loves u too ... Send flowers and candies and gifts... but most importantly tell her all that u planned like moving closer to her and u thinking about proposing to her ....this will all make her re-think her decision
