I have no idea what shift 1 or 2 or 3 mean. can anyone tell me what it means?

Generally shifts are allowed in biggest Industries
For Example:Neyveli lignite Corporation Ltd (South India)provide all employees stay in Quarters.First shift 6.00am to 2.00pm Second shift 2.00pm to 10pm and finally third shift
are night 10.00pm to 6.00am(Non technical line general shift 10.00am to 5.30pm)So Industrial shift generally eight hours only.Everybody telling first shift or secod shift or third shift.This are all comes in rotational basis.24hours Hospital,power sector Cement Industries etc.

Generally, shift 1 is Morning ( 8 AM- 4 PM); shift 2 is afternoon to night (4 PM - Midnight); shift 3 is night or "graveyard" (midnight - 8 AM)

usually shift one is 7 am til 3 pm
shift 2 is 3pm -11pm
shift 3 is 11 pm til 7 am

7am - 3pm, 3pm - 11pm, 11pm - 7am
