My husband and I are moving to SLC in September. It should probably only be a temporary stay... as his class is only 3 months long. But we just moved last year, and I am not looking to pack up my dog, son, two cats and a house full of stuff, 3 times in 2 years. So suppose we decided to stay in SLC for a while...

How are the rental rates for both houses and apartments (at least 2 br). Where is a good area - since we have a 6 year old? How are the schools? Does it really matter if you are LDS or not?

Any advice would be much appreciated as well :)

By the way - if we stayed he would be a massage therapist - does anyone know if there is a market there for massage therapy?

Like I said - he has a class there and we have to go for 3 months - so at least some advice about the rent or maybe temp housing - such as hostiles or extended stay hotels that allow pets would be nice ;)

Is he taking the class at a school, or thru work? Check with them to see about temporary housing. Sometimes, there are companies that buy up apartments and condos for people who are there only temporarily, but don't want to stay in a hotel.

I'm sure that there is a market for massage therapy, especially in Salt Lake, since it's getting more and more non-members.

I posted a couple links I found. Just Google "temporary housing".

Might I also suggest living close to Hill AFB, as many of the people stationed there are not members? You might also find more temp housing there.

Check out Sandy, Draper, Orem and parts of Provo. I do not know if massage therapy has a big market. But onece he has completed his class or internship he will be able to tell. The area is too cold for me. So I moved to California.
