Currently live in a 1/2 duplex that was NOT orginally designed to be 2 suites. I am in the bottom and the neighbors on top of me. I love the location. I love how big and beautiful this place is! BUT I can hear the neighbors alarm clock. They can hear my baby on the doppler! I can hear them snore, and they don't snore loud at all! Also, I am cold down here and my heat has them opening windows in winter. My porch doors echo in their place. They have complained alot and their noise is driving my nuts, they are loud to begin with and wake me up when I try to sleep in, just from their normal conversation. They are moving on Friday. The landlord is selling the place. So what should I do? Move before baby to a soundproof apartment so I can have peace? Or chance it with the new neighbors not being mad that a newborn is waking them up 4 times a night (babies ARE louder then alarm clocks!) What would you advise?

the baby will get used to it and sleep. I am worried about my neighbors and me being tense and uncomfortable in my own place.. especially with a crying baby. Not worried about baby's sleep

well i would wait until the new neighbors move in and see what they're like. what if they have a baby of their own?but while you wait to meet them look for apartments that are sound proof just in case.

I think it will be a heck of a lot easier to move while pregnant than to move with a newborn. I would look around and see if I could find something else in my price range before the baby comes. Now with that being said: I would not make everybody be quiet for my baby. My daughter is now 26 and turned out fine. I never asked anyone to adjust for her. I always felt that it would be easier for the baby to do the adjusting and I was right. She learned to sleep through anything-lol. Loud tvs, people laughing and talking - no matter what was going on she would sleep if she was tired. If you can solve the problem by moving ahead of time with being able to handle the expense do it. You don't even know if the new landlord intends to keep renting the place out. Either way, congratulations on your baby and the best of luck to you -k-

Don't worry about youyr baby and noise - you will have the TV going and be talking on the phone, and the baby will sleep through it. As they get older, it will be harder, but at first they sleep through anything. Liek you said, the baby crying will be more annoying than the noise they make. But screw them! It's a baby, they cry!!! They are just doing their baby duty!!!

It would probably be a good idea for you to try to move. once you have a baby you're going to be tired enough in a quite house, but in a house where ppl make lots of noise it will be so much worse.
