I have huge bumble bees - I guess that's what they are. I have wood siding on my house and every year these stupid bees come in droves and bore holes in my wood. Not to mention they annoy me and my dog. I don't have any idea where their nest is to get them there. Anything I can effectively treat the wood with? I've tried regular bee sprays and WD-40, but that only kills them one at a time. It doesn't get rid of them in mass amounts. Thanks!

The above is true. The tennis racket works wonders. I actually took care of some carpenter bees yesterday. My neighbors probably thought I was crazy.

However, I spent three hours wacking them but they still kept coming. So I waited until dark and sprayed their nest with some hornet and wasp killer. They slowly dropped out one by one and when they hit the ground they met the bottom of my boot. I killed probably 60 of them.

They are called carpenter bees and they drill holes in your house. The best thing to do is to hit them with a tennis racket.

Any type of repellant bug spray should work, but you pretty well have to cover all the wood in your house. I simply wait until they have drilled a hole, usually in my deck because my house is well painted, and then shove a dowell rod (1/2 in) into the hole with some glue on it and they just die in there.

Paint over the wood and the bees will not drill. That's what our insurance company told us, and it's true. You'll need to fill in any holes with wood filler first.

Do your best to locate their nest. Follow them. When you find the nest, spray it with freon to freeze it.
