A child born in an aeroplane will get free ticket for life from that airline.

Happened to be true in several occassions but people still say it's 'urband legend'.

I know a pretty gross food one...

A girl went to restraunt ( dont remember the name) and orderd a hamburger with no mayonaise. She told the cashier she hated the stuff. So she went and found a table and waited. She finally got her order and took a bite out of the burger. To her dismay, she felt something gooey and rancid on her togue and looked at the hamburger to find white stuff oozing out of it. She stomped up to the cashier and raved about the mayonaise in the burger. The cashier talked to the cook and the cook came up front and told her he didnt put any mayonaise on it. "Oh yes you did!" She yelled. She led both the cashier and the cook to her table. " Then what do you call this white stuff?!" she exclaimed. The cashier peeled back the lettuce and tamato and there on the meat was what looked like a curdleing, jelly-lookin bulbus growth oozing all over the burger. The restraunt was sued and the growth was said to be a tumour of some sort.

I dont think the legend is true, but the first time I heard it I couldnt eat a burger from a restraunt for a while.

there is a story where in a university a student was working late on a project and so she decided to spend the night at school. she stayed inside a classroom and the guard told her that no matter what she mustn't go out of the room during the night. a few hours later the girl heard someone walking outside. remembering the guard's warning she just peeped into the keyhole of the door. all she saw was red. the next morning she asked the guard who was walking around late at night. the guard told her that it must be the ghost of the girl who died many years ago. the guard described the girl as having long hair and RED eyes

Well I live in New Jersey and we have a few..one I know of and grew up with was the white bride in the tree. In a local park that has a road going through it there is a tree that used to glow white when you drove by at midnight. Apparently a bride and Groom had just been married and a car came out of nowhere speeding and hit and slammed her body int other tree. For years it would glow at night..it even made it into the Weird New Jersey magazine.
A few years back they tore down the tree but now people claim to see her floating through the park at night....ohhhhhh

A girl and her boyfriend were driving somewhere and stopped in a forest. They were kissing and then couldn't start the car again. The boyfriend decided to go to get help for the car but didn't return. The girl kept hearing a bumping sound from the car's roof. In the morning police cars/people found her and such. When she got out of the car she saw that what had been bumping the roof was the remains of her boyfriend, hung from a tree branch upsidedown.

Also, a girl was babysitting and called the parents of the kids for what to do when. She asked them one thing, could she cover the clown statue in the corner with a towel? It freaked her out the way it was staring at her. THe parents said 'take the kids, go to the neighbor's house, and call the police. We don't own a clown statue'.

A couple went to Las Vegas and their hotel room smelled funny. They thought it would go away but it got worse. THey called the hotel-person and he came and discovered it came from under the bed. He looked and there was a dead body.

A girl and her roomate heard that a murderer had escaped. They were scared and agreed to lock their doors. THey said goodnight and the roomate went into her room. At midnight the girl (not her roomate) heard a scratching noise on her door. She was scared but didn't open it. In the morning she opened it and saw that it was her friend, who was murdered. The scratching noise had been her last attempts to get help.

A woman got into her car and was driving. She noticed the person behind her was flashing his lights oddly. She tried to lose him but never could. Finally she pulled into a police station. The person followed her and pulled open her back-seat car door. There was a person with a knife hiding there.

Alligators in the sewers, too.

The game was supposedly called "Lights Out " !

Look up Jan Harold Brunvand. He is a folklorist at the University of Utah, and one of the leading experts on urban legends. (He's also a really nice man.) He has written countless books about urban legends, and they are all great fun.

I have a couple of favorites, two of which have already been mentioned.

I really like the one about the woman driving alone and the car following her to her destination while flashing the lights at her. She gets to the police station and the man behind her jumps out of his car and it turns out there's a bad guy in the backseat. I like that one a lot because something similar happened to a friend of mine. She lived in Phoenix, AZ when she was younger, and one night during the winter, she came out of work after midnight and got into her junky van. As she was driving, people kept flashing their lights and honking at her, but since she was in a bad area of town, she was afraid to stop. Finally, at a stoplight, a car pulled up next to her and the person in the passenger seat motioned for her to roll down her window. When she did, he calmly said, "Get out of your van now! Don't ask questions, just do it!" His tone scared her so badly that she did. He and his friend jumped out and it turns out a homeless person had crawled into the back of the van to sleep, thinking it was parked for the night. As these guys were driving behind her, they kept seeing the man's face in the back window of the van. The poor guy was just trying to figure out a way to get out without scaring her to death.

I also like the one about the woman cooking her insides by tanning too much because I distinctly remember the summer that one started going around. Everyone went to tanning salons back then, and there was generalized panic about it, with it even being reported as fact on our local news.

My favorite scary urband legend is as follows:

A woman and her roommate are frightened because there is a madman breaking into women's homes and killing them in the night after raping them. They decide to get a dog for protection. At night, they both leave their bedroom doors open so the dog can go back and forth and provide some security. One night the woman wakes up thinking she has heard something. She calls softly for the dog, and puts her hand down to the side of the bed to see if he's there. Her hand is met by the dog, who gently licks her hand to assure her of his presence. Comforted, she goes back to sleep.

The next day she awakens to find her roommate murdered in her bed. She goes out to the kitchen to call the police, and finds the dog dead, too. When she returns to her room, she finally notices that someone has scrawled the following on her wall/mirror/door in lipstick/blood/fluid of your choice: "Humans can lick hands, too."

I love that one because the thought of a murderer licking someone's hand just sickens me.

Anyway, try to find some of Dr. Brunvand's books. I believe he even has his own website. You should be able to find some good stuff there.

Good luck with your presentation.
