This is a sensitive subject, so be honest without being rude.
Sometimes people smell because of what they eat, or because they have some kind of body problem, not hygiene.
If you cannot make them see your point, then consider not dating this person anymore. Part of the chemical attraction is really loving how your partner smells. (This is a scientific fact.)

Are you critical when it comes to body odor ? Can you go the distance with this person despite of his/her odor ? You can talk to them them and ask them if they have noticed. Most people with BO do not know this (or are use to their odor that they aren't aware that is considered an odor by some).

I would take him to a Bath & Body Works, go around smelling/sampling the products, and hint to him what I like.

take a shower with them, scrub them clean. then use edible lotions, whipped cream and body spray. scented candles in the background. mmhm and then say mmmmm it smells soooooooo good babydoll, i just want to eat you up. they'll get it.

Honestly I would break up with the person. If they can't handle simple hygiene, I woudln't want to be with them.

Give him a set of toiletries and say that i would love to smell it on him,,,,,, actually im a nose and tongue person, i don't like a salty and smelly guy.... no way, man....
