95% of tadpoles are herbivores - they eat algae and other tiny bits of plant matter.
To feed them, get some sludgy algae stuff out of whatever pond you found them in. They can also eat flake fish food. Alternatively, you can feed them lettuce or spinnach - dont boil it as some people recommend as it loses its nutrients this way. freeze it instead, then unfreeze it. this will help break down the cell wall and make it softer for the tadpoles to eat.

As the tadpoles turn into frogs (when they are developing legs), only then will they start eating tiny insects and mosquito larvae.

its usually the other way around, the mosquito larvae eat the tadpoles but really it all depends on the size of the tadpole or larvae
