The best sleep position during pregnancy is "SOS" (sleep on side). Even better is to sleep on your left side. Sleeping on your left side will increase the amount of blood and nutrients that reach the placenta and your baby. Keep your legs and knees bent and a pillow between your legs.
If you find that you are having problems with back pain, use the "SOS" position and try placing a pillow under your abdomen as well.
If you are experiencing heartburn during the night, you may want to try propping your upper body with pillows.
In late pregnancy you may experience shortness of breath; try lying on your side or propped up with pillows.
These suggestions may not sound completely comfortable, especially if you are used to sleeping on your back or stomach, but try them out and you may find that they work. Keep in mind that you may not stay in one position all night and rotating positions is fine.
What positions should I avoid?
Sleeping on your back: This can cause problems with backaches, breathing, digestive system, hemorrhoids, low blood pressure and decrease in circulation to your heart and your baby. This is a result of your abdomen resting on your intestines and major blood vessels (the aorta and vena cava).
Sleeping on your stomach: When you are farther along in your pregnancy, your abdomen undergoes physical changes and makes it more difficult for you to lay on your stomach.

I slept on my stomach through my first trimester--mainly because I wasnt' showing yet and it felt comfortable. As your belly grows, it won't be comfortable and sleeping on your side will feel better. I have been told sleeping on your back isn't good when you are farther along because the weight of the uterus can cut off a large vein in your back which provides blood to the baby. I can't sleep on my back anyways, the weight of my belly makes it uncomfortable.
You will know when you aren't feeling that comfortable to sleep on your belly. I now sleep on my side--either one, I move around at night--with a body pillow wedged under my body--so it supports and feels comfortable.
If you are concerned, talk to your doctor--but since you aren't that far along, I wouldn't worry right now.
Congrats!

OK, forst of all, if you just found out you are pregnant (meaning, you just missed your period and took a test), then you are more than likely 4 weeks pregnant. Your actual pregnancy weeks are calculated starting with the last day of your last period. (Just an FYI) So, it would be impossible to know that you are pregnant if you're only a week pregnant, because you're not actually pregnant yet until you ovulate, which would be when you are two weeks pregnant. Make sense? Anyways, you shouldn't have problems with sleeping on your tummy until you start to show, and with your first pregnancy, this will more than likely not happen until you are 5 to 6 months along. Hope that helps.

CONGRATS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!
Sleep on whatever side you want to right now.
being only one week you should keep getting all the rest you can because your belly will be growing. It is recommended to sleep on your left as you begin to grow more. This is so that the baby gets the best blood flow possible to his/her little body! But when you cant get to sleep... whatever floats your boat. I am 25 weeks and still end up rolling over on my belly. lol
You wont hurt the pumkin. dont worry.

My doctor said when you're still small sleeping on your back or your tummy isn't a big deal. I still wake up at night sleeping on my back and I have to roll over. Trust me towards the end...the only really comfortable way to sleep is on your side.

You are one week pregnant?
You don't have to worry about how you sleep yet. Feel free to sleep on your belly for now.

I don't think you have to worry about which postion you sleep in throughout your pregnancy...but at some point, it will probably be impossible to sleep on your stomach. I'm a belly sleeper too...and on my third pregnancy.
