colourless means there is no colour but clear is ambiguous it could mean that you can see through it but some people think it means colourless and so instead of using this word we use colourless.

Colourless = completly transparent like water

Clear = Colourled but you can still just abut see through the liquid. Like low concentration copper (II) sulphate.

Never use the two words at the same time, they mean different things.

Copper sulphate solution is clear but not colourless. All solutions are clear (no solid particles visible) but all are most certainly not colourless!
