I am a 24-year old female. I work as a teacher in a secondary school and it is hell. The school kids won't settle down. Three boys that I teach have started throwing gum at me, in my hair and on my seat. They also think it's funny to confuse me and deliberetly get the work wrong. I've tried giving them detentions but they won't have it. They don't seem bothered. I'm wondering what I should do. I can't quit my job because no other school will have me. The job I have right now suits me very much with good pay [i have a child on the way]. The head is always away on meetings and such so I can't really talk to him. I've also heard racist comments being said behind my back [i'm indian..] I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions, or are in similar situations? thanks.

Well i might have a soulution A friend was in the same situation as you were, And here is what she did, She invited each of her students parents for a meeting, an emergency meeting, she told the parents to be at the class room at the same time that the child acts up, And she told the parents not to tell the child that they are coming in, Soo when that day happened, The child was acting up in class, and there stood momma at the door, surprise, When the teacher disaplined the student for misbehaving, The parents were greatful, Because they saw for themselves and they saw in the parents eyes that their child was bad, And by the way, Dont feel that well these parents would say, its during the day and iam working, no no, I feel that if the parent is interested in her child she or he will be there

I suggest going to your local Board of Education if no higher authority in the school can help. But before you do that, talk to the principal or headmaster at your school, even if you have to track him down in between meetings. No one should have to put up with that type of behavior. That's exactly why I've never for one second thought about going into the education field. Kids these days aren't being disciplined properly @ home, so of course they're gonna go to school w/o a care in the world about others and just try to do what they want. I hope everything works out for you!

I, too work in schools, and though I am not a teacher but a school photographer, I know how mean kids can be. My suggestion to you would be to go above and beyond any detention. They need more dicsipline than that. I don't know what your school's dicsiplinary actions are like, but these guys need to be put in all day dention, or be moved to a different class if this continues to happen. YOU are the adult, and not them. They need to be reminded who is in charge and their parents need to be slapped for raising them in such a way that they would be disrespectful to their authority figures.

I'm not a teacher so I don't know what it is like but some of the boys in my class misbehave sometimes. They are really good kids though. So my teachers are threatening to give out suspensions and are on the verge of giving them out. It might not help because I don't know your situation. Or just be extremely nice and funny becuase I find that if the teacher is mean or boing that they are easy to dislike and all. But hey, I don't know. do what you want
