In a setting with a lot of people I tend to figid in my seat or tap on the table. What can I do to stop worrying for no reason, even when no one does anything to worry me. How can I relax and just play it cool. Strangely I act diffirent if I'm with only a few people, I be myself. It could be that I'm worried if other people hate me or like me.

Look up introvert and extrovert. You're not weird or unique. I'm the same way. I'm an introvert, in large crowds the energy is sucked right out of me. Wall flower is a perfect description. I get home and I'm exhausted. In small 2-3 people groups I can be my self, in fact, I quite often am the center of attention. I get home and I can't sleep. Bouncing off the walls. I thought I would mature out of this phase, but no. I married a psychology major and she said this is a trait that stays for life. Oddly enough she's an extrovert! Loves crowds!

You have the concept correct. As a primal concern we are very anxious about publicly being judged. This happens most often in speaking in public. People who are very much bothered with this are diagnosed as having 'Social Anxiety Disorder'. These people would rather die than face the judgement of a crowd. This all comes from our beginings when if the society banished you, it meant certain slow death, for without the safety, food, and resources of the group, you'd never make it on your own. This also causes people to socialize in bars, clubs, dance clubs. We compare our selves against our peers to comfort our fear of 'not fitting in'

normal reaction. Have you considered a few drinks before hand i.e Vodka (no bad breath) (I just mean enough to take the edge off..but not make you sloppy or stumbly ;-)
