My husband has retrograde ejaculation caused from type I diabetes. Our doctor told him to take "Bronkaid" (active ingred. ephedrine), one hour before intercourse. We experimented on which dose worked best. For us two pills taken on an empty stomach one hour before intercourse worked best. It also works best when he has not ejaculated in 3 days.

Our doctor told us that if we are unable to conceive after 6 - 12 months of trying that we can have an IUI done. An IUI -- intrauterine insemination -- is performed by threading a very thin flexible catheter through the cervix and injecting washed sperm directly into the uterus. The whole process doesn't take very long — it usually only requires the insertion of a speculum and then the catheter, a process that maybe takes a couple of minutes (60-90 seconds to introduce the catheter, then sperm injection, and another 60 seconds or so to remove the catheter. Also, an IUI is considerable cheaper than IVF - IUI = $200 -$400 where as IVF= $10,000 - $15,000

My husband and I are on our 5th month of TTC.

What about using donor sperm because diabetes type 1 and type 2 is thought to be a genetic disorder?
