A while ago, my ex (while we were still going out) asked me this: "When you look at me, what do you see?" and needless to say, I was like "wtf." So my question remains: why must women ask such pointless questions?! Is it to put us on the spot? Are they bored and just feel like toying with us? Or something else? Do they actually expect us to give the answer they're looking for? I wouldn't be surprised if they WERE toying with us to see us squirm under the pressure...

I'm woman and even I have to roll my eyes over women doing that. Exactly why I can't stand chick flicks.

There's a fine, blurry line between insecurity and ego. I'll bet it leans more towards insecurity. If any future women you date (and trust me, not all of them will. I don't. I'm actually quiet. My boyfriend's the one who talks a lot and asks random question, amusingly enough), just give them UNSOLICITED compliments like 'You're beautiful,' 'You smell lovely,' 'Your eyes, the way they catch the light right now, sparkle,' etc...

Of course, don't tell your lady anything you do not mean. I never ask those annoying questions and whenever my boyfriend compliments me, it knocks my socks off. When it's not asked, it's a very pleasant surprise, so you've just got to beat those specific ladies to the punch. Best of luck!
