Yeah, I would say that you more than likely needed at least 2500 calories a day, but if you are having no problem putting on weight then, I 'd say you should be fine. If there were a problem with you not gaining enough, your doctor would ask you about what you've been eating an probably encourage you to eat more. A friend of mine was a big health fanatic and she wasn't gaining enough weight so the doctor told her to drink milkshakes every day. So, I am sure if there was a problme, your doctor would bring it up. No worries!

Your body will put on the necessary weight to maintain a healthy pregnancy. The baby takes the nutrients from you--so what you eat affects your child. You seem concerned with gaining 38 pounds--is this why you are eating only 1700 calories? Did you discuss this with your doctor?

Being pregnant is NOT the time to worry about gaining weight-that is what is supposed to happen. Don't restrict your calories because you are worried about gaining a lot of weight--your baby needs the nutrients in order to grow and be healthy. I would talk to your doctor about your diet and discuss the calorie count. Make sure you are eating healthy foods. Relax about the weight gain.

That's too little. You need to eat about 2200 calories a day while pregnant.
It is not unusual for a woman to gain 38 pounds or more during pregnancy. I gained 42 with one preganancy. In addition to the baby's weight, you gain a lot of weight in fluids and your body stores a few pounds of fat to prepare you for breastfeeding.
Once your baby is born, it may take 6-12 months to lose all of the weight you gained.

You don;t have to focus too much on exact number of calories. Just be sure to eat healthy foods, not junk. Get some exercise - walking is great.

Good luck.

Well, we don't know how big you are to begin with.

1700 is too low for the average person. Just to maintain a normal person's healthy, you would eat 2,000 calories.
