Mine is catcher. When you play catcher, you are always in the game.

The good thing about catcher is it's the only position that can see the whole field. My position was first base. My knees couldn't handle catcher.

Even after all these years, at 39 years of age, I still play catcher. It is, in my opinion, the most involved, underrated and most important position.

At my age, not all the pitchers can throw so well. And a good catcher can account for that and keep the game respectable. It also teaches you to deal with what you have, not wish you had more. Some of the slower pitchers in our league are actually the best pitchers - they have learned how to use tempo to their advantage, and can more often throw junk, because they need to to stay in the game. However, the catcher needs to make sure the right pitches are called at the right times, and keep the pitchers' head in the right place.

Additionally, I have been playing catcher for so long, I feel vulnerable out in the field. Every so often, I am asked to play third, or some other position - and every time, I tell them jokingly, "As long as I can wear my gear out there - I don't want to get hit with the ball; it hurts!"

There's nothing like that play at the plate though .....

That is exactly what my dad told me. He converted me into a catcher in the 2nd grade after two years of playing SS. I played catcher for the next 5 years. Behind the plate, you control the tempo of the game, keep the pitcher calm, throw out base stealers, and have the most exciting plays to make (blocking the plate). Catcher is the place to be.

My favorite position is catcher but after a little bit my legs start to hurt. There is also out fielder. I love catching fly balls!

shortstop favorite, you are in on almost every play

least favorite.....catcher......I don't have the brains or knees for it......how do you stay in that stance for so long......plus always risking getting hit with the ball, calling pitches and still playing a total, non stop game, there is no "deep breath" time for catchers,,,,I think they are the most underrated of all players so good for you for doing it, but no thanks.
