I'm thinking of getting one in the near future. Now that they've been released, what do people that have one, or played one, think of them and what are the best bits about it?

(Be honest, even if you found it rubbish)

It's all it's hyped to be and more....The only downside is that the wireless is a little finicky

# Blue Ray
# True 1080p HiDef
# PSP Remote Play

# The internal 60 gig hard drive- capable of storing Ps2 memorycard game saves, photo, movies, music etc…
# Ability to hook up external hard drives, and jump drives- and transfer music, photos, videos, etc back and forth…….

We hooked a 160 gig external drive up and were able to run everything.
# Key board and mouse abilities
# Surf anywhere on the net like any computer (PS3 Has it's own web browser)
#New online game similar to secondlife.com coming out in beta in april and full version released in the fall
# Play games- Resistance Fall of Man- Motostorm
# Play all the Ps2 games if you have ps2

We have also signed up for the Folding@Home project where the Ps3 processing power is being used for cancer research. So at night My ps3 runs a program that folds proteins and the data is sent to Standford in conjunction with Sony. They found the Ps3 can do in two weeks what multiple CPUs can do in a year.

We don't regret the purchase

And the Ps3 runs almost 24 hrs a day and we have had no fires or overheating issues.

I bought one yesterday and it is def worth the money, it costs the same as the ps2 did when it came out so i dont know why people are moaning about the price. I have an xbox and a wii too and im being honest the ps3 beats both but the wii is alot of fun. since i got my wii i have not touched my xbox, now i have the ps3 i will probably sell the xbox.

Don't buy PS3. What a waste of money. Not enough games available in Europe and they've now taken away the chip so we can play all PS2 games.

If you want to buy a console that's worth the time, go for the 360.
more game really good graphics and easy to use DVD player.

If you really want a PS3, Trust me you'll be better off waiting till next year. By the Sony would have realised they have made a big mistake and add more features to the console.

There are bad things about the ps3, but there are more good things than bad things. One bad thing is that a ps3 game will only work on one ps3 console, but a good thing is the graphics of the games are great especially that game called need for speed carbon. The bad thing at the moment is that all the good games are sold out. (i'm probably one of the only people to have need for speed carbon, but there are others who has the game as well.)

I have one and its pretty good. Its a little complicated at first, definitely takes directions. Of course thats mostly when your trying to add things or play online.
Pros:
Sleek look
great graphics
good sound
wireless controllers
blue ray (movies as well, blue ray player cost more)
backwards compatible (able to play dvds ps2 games and ps games)
CONS:
Not many games out
games $60.00 (new release)
complicated to use on internet or to transfer ps2 saved data
Xbox 360 is very similar and cheaper

Buy an X Box 360 Pro instead. You could even afford the extra add-on HD-DVD and Web-cam to go with it for the same price as the Sony!. As usual Sony have blown it. Don't get me wrong, I love Sony consoles and have owned at least one of every console they have made thus far. I think that Microsoft has got it right this time, with regard to Price, Games availability, Graphic Quality, Playability and Content, Upgrade's and Connectivity etc. The Sony unit looks better under the TV, but my games machines are upstairs out of the way. Not under my main TV. We have a shelf full of them to connect and play as required.

i like it because it comes with blu-ray. it does 1080P through hdmi 1.3. nice interface 6-axis wireless controllers all the games i've played for it so far have been amazing. the only downside it the backwards capability the graffics are downscalled a little bit, and there is no memory card slots for ps/2 games. other than that i love it
