the drain can't consume as much water as your washer is pushing out and it backs up into other drains it's commen and no problem it acually backwashes your tub drain and helps keep it clean

If you can hear the washing machine drain in the bathtub then your pipe from the drain from the washing machine is connected to the drain to the tub.

All your drain lines are connected together, so it's normal. It's NOT OK if the washing machine drain water suddenly appears in your bath tub, though.

If the washer water is draining into the tub..you have a problem.

Is your bathroom near your laundry????

If you just hear it through the pipes, you drains a proably connecected.

If your really concerned get a plumber....preferibly one with a nice crack...LOL

its normal since the tub drain has no trap.it dumps straight into the drain and self vents below the spout( to prevent over filling.) it obviously uses the same main line(eventually all your drains come together into one) and is close enough to hear the flow.its not a bad thing. its just a safe thing.
