I kept Koi fish and would maybe do that again, but I was wondering what other types I could put outside. Are there types of fish that would get along with another type?

my pond is probably only about 4x3x1 feet. And I've heard koi grow really big, but mine were just a little bigger than goldfish. I didn't feed them, they found enough. Do I have to feed them? Do they really get as big as I have heard??

Yes if you feed Koi they will grow quite large. You can also put in comets, wakin, and simple fantails in a pond. I wouldn't go fancier than that though.

Butterfly Koi are a cross between Comet Goldfish and Koi,I don't think they grow as fast as Koi,and I personally find them quite attractive. They have some of the Koi coloration, and graceful flowing fins like a Comet. I guess a lot would depend on the size and depth of the pond. Whatever your choice, enjoy!-----PeeTee

You could always get a few goldfish. My dad had a goldfish pond, and the 5 that he kept grew to a little over two feet.

depending on size of pond, if thousands of gallons i would stick with koi, but you could do a mix of shubunkin comets and regular comet goldfish. If you have a small pond hundreds of gallons you could also do the comets. You could do a fantail pond but it would do best at having only fantails and No comets or koi included. As per fantails i would personally stick with differant color varietions of Ryukins or Moors. I would Not use Oranda fantails.

they are crayfish. no ought to handle the pond, they are organic. they don't consume fish or harm the water and any fish you have will often income from their presence. however in case you taken care of the water to rid it of them greater might come. they are crustaceans that may walk on land besides as swim in water.
