Unfortunately there are too many vairables on the fullsized truck based SUVs so to give anything specific would be almost impossible.
If you have your owners manual, check in the index for the specifications, then go to that page. You will have to go by your specific vehicle options, ie auto versus manual transmission, high capacity cooling system as opposed to standard cooling system, ac vs no ac, 4X4 or 2X4, ect.
If you don't have your owners manual, you can check the numbers on the card glued to the inside of your glove compartment or cubby hole then call your local gm dealer and they can translate the codes and advise you of your capacitities.
I drove a 76 GMC Jimmy 4X4 for 12 years, and quit driving it in 2000. I still have it and am considering restoring it. They are great vehicles, and mine got fairly decent mileage too.

you should have a owners manuel with that jimmy.if not call auto zone,they can tell you.
