My son has a hamster and I think all together we paid $50. $10 for the hamster $30 for the cage and $10 for the food. The cages usually come with the toys, water tube and food cup.

I just purchased a hamster at Petco.

It cost:
$9 for each hamster
$40 for the cage that included a wheel, water bottle, food bowl, the bedding to put on the bottom of the cage, little steps for the hamster to play on and an ice cream treat
If you want a ball for the hamster to play in, it costs around $5

Eventually, you'll have to buy more supplies when the stuff that they give you in the package runs out.

Well, here are the estimated costs:

hamster- about $7-$10 ( this is for a regular ham. not exotic or something)

cage- about $20-$30 (depends on size, though you can find them for $10-$15)

bedding- about $3-$5(depends on the size of the bag)

toys- $5 (approximately, though it depends on quanity and such)

water bottle- $2-$4 (depends on size, though you only need a small one)

food dish- $2-$4 (you can use those plastic ones, they work well)

TOTAL COST-- $39-$58 (these numbers may be a little off, but it is definitely under $100)

Hope this helps!

Call a pet shop. I did, last week, and was told that they run anywhere from $9.50 to $15.99. There are at least three or four different types of Hamsters; teddy bears and dwarfs are two examples Some dwarfs are tamer than other types of dwarfs--that's why they are $15.99 each.
