The way I look at it, we've had Republicans as President, we've had Democrats as President... Each term is filled with scandal, real or imagined, that ends up becoming a huge controversy, usually much ado about nothing. So here's my idea: Go without a President. Two Republicans, two Democrats, two Independents from every state for representation. Every bill passed by the body Politik gets reviewed by a 15 member judicial committee, separate from the representatives, to determine it's legality and constitutionality. If it passes, it's law. If not, it is sent back. If it contains a shred of pork it is killed and cannot be resubmitted. A titular head of government could be selected by the people to attend parties and such, but that would have no real decision making power. Voting done on line as part of a Reality Show ("So You Want to Be a Political Star?") You could have Charlton Heston or Sean Penn , Ann Coulter or Susan Serandon for example. If they start screwing up too bad, vote them out and watch another episode.

Me. I say this not to be smart or sarcastic in response to your question. My qualifications are that I am a native born American that believes in the American dream and have no intention to steal it as it is meant for all Americans. I am not rich and have no aspirations to be as I have seen the affects of the disease of Capitalism and what it does to the family unit in the name of progress. I do not lie nor am I a hypocrite. My life was built on the basic guarantees of freedom and rights of the people as they are written by the peoples forefathers that dies to obtain them. I believe in the protection of my country and that includes the borders that protect the home where we enjoy the safety of our land and the opportunity afforded our children. With our judicial system in decay and slowly erroding our rights and the selective taking of our freedoms if we do not reorder our priorities and start participating in actively managing our affairs and stop throwing stones at those that are representing us we will lose the most precious environment on the planet. People like Al Gore living in our world are icons to promoting change for the good and benefit of the citizens of this country taking down the power of Capitalism using a natural event to show the evil head of the monster knowing that if it rises to prohibit good things in public light it will be cut off. That is intelligent. Be on the side of those of us that think about the welfare of this country first as charity starts at home and if Capitalists are out of control and taking our country that should take a priority over a peacekeeping in the world to maintan our integrity. Setting the example is as much a powerful tool as setting up a self governing structure for a distant land. While I may not agree with all of he actions and timing of the current administration I agree that the taking of Sadam Hussien to justice in front of the world is a priority as he was a very dangerous person much like Adolf Hitler. Vote for me. I will make only one promise to the American people. My election to the office of President would be under no political party as a public servant my actions would be in the best interest of all Americans and anything that would lie, cheat, deceive or rob Americans of their dreams, rights or freedoms would be labeled as detrimental to America and modified or deleted. Value is worth and the America that I was born in is the most precious and valuable commodity in the world and is not for sale and should be protected at whatever the cost. Serving in the Marine Corps I affirmed that I would give my life in the defense of this country and as president no less dedication would be negotiated and the interest and progress of this country would come before my paycheck. Our country is full of smart people that could balance our budget, minimize hunger and unemployment and stabalize our economy just for the asking. I don't know the first thing about bookkeeping but as the president I could enlist the help of some of the smartest self made millionaires that could whittle out the answers and stabalize our country. Four years of serving this country and we would actually be what we claim today, Revered and respected throughout the world as a super power setting the example of what to do and taking our extra that is above reserve for Americans and assist nations in the most extreme of circumstances to improve their qualit of life. As a world leader there would be a zero tolerance for the b.s. actions that lead to adversity and death of people for any reason of prejudice, religous conflict, racism or the bullies in the world that stand defiantly in the way of peace and progress and would be dealt with swiftly and harshly as there is not time in life to molly coddle malcontents and evil people. Pitch in help, initiate things for the benefit of life or get out of the way but dont be a problem or we will solve you instantly with kindness, help, advice, incentive or support weakness or in the case of defiant,disaster causing warmongers and war so fast and final you will not believe it is over when hearing your sentence before the court. We will help with whatever action necessary to promote the progress of the human race starting with America. Vote for me.
