If job security is a concern, the government is a better choice. Benefits would be another concern. Generally the government provides good benefits. OTOH, if you have skills which are more highly paid for in private industry it may be worth it for the money. Would the money be significantly better? Research what position you can get in private industry, what the salary and benefits would be and then compare the two choices by making a list of pros and cons.

This isn't really an easy question to answer. It all depends on what you're qualified in, what you enjoy and what experience you have.

Depding on the type of work you would be doing, private companies often offer better money and working conditions than government agencies.
